Read our January fundraising spotlight! The first month of 2024 went off with a bang! Below are just some of the amazing fundraisers that took place during January – thank you and well done to everyone who raised vital funds for our patients!

Trust Support

We are thankful to the Bernard Sunley Foundation and Eli Lilly & Company Limited for their grant support towards our Patient Rooms Refurbishment project and MND clinic respectively for this year’s funding requirement. We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to the Fanny Hugill Trust and The Manydown Charitable Trust for their support towards our Hospice’s essential services.

Phillips Law

We were Phillips Law’s Charity of the Year for 2023, it has been wonderful working with them and they raised an amazing final figure of £5,904.33 for the Hospice!

Wilsons Electrical

Wilson Electrical raised an incredible £3,500 from their Christmas raffle all raised by their generous customers to support the Hospice during the festive season.

Penningtons Manches Cooper LLP

Thank you to Pennington’s Manchester Cooper LLP for their generous donation in December of £2,500 as part of their Christmas Giving Programme.

Worldham Golf Club

The members of Worldham Golf Club in Alton very kindly chose St Michael’s Hospice to support again in 2023 with their Chairty of the Year fundraising. They had a very busy year, with a boiling hot Captains day, multiple tournaments and an incredible team Longest Day challenge, which saw all 4 Captains (Mens, Ladies, Seniors and Juniors) take it turns to do as many rounds of golf in one day. The members also worked tirelessly throughout the year, hosting many ladies mornings, raffles, quiz nights and members socials to raise as much as possible and they smashed their fundraising with a huge total of £7,025.95! Thank you so much to all the members of Worldham Golf Club for all your incredible support!

Community Support

Sherfield Oaks Golf Club 2023

The members of Sherfield Oaks Golf Club had kindly chosen St Michael’s Hospice to support as their Captains Charity for 2023. They did not hold back with their fundraising, from hosting an extravagant Hollywood Movies themed Golf Day, to their 2023 Club Captain, Steve, taking on a 99 hole challenge to raise funds for the Hospice, they absolutely smashed their fundraising and raised an incredible £23,315 for the Hospice!

Keith Brown’s Christmas Baubles

Each year our wonderful supporter, Keith, decorates his home in incredible Christmas lights to bring some festive cheer to Basingstoke. This year certainly didn’t disappoint, with a very impressive 27 minute long light show, where some of the lights lip-synced to Christmas tunes, a snow cannon created a beautiful winter wonderland and Santa made a guest appearance on the 24 December for all the local children! Keith spends months planning his displays each year and every visitor not only gets to enjoy this incredible display, but they all are treated to some chocolates too. His incredible efforts certainly impressed the visitors, who helped him raise a phenomenal £7,129 for the Hospice, which is his biggest total yet! Thank you so much Keith for all your hard work, we can’t wait to see next years display!

Murder on the Brimpton Express

Our wonderful supporters at the Brimpton Amateur Dramatics Society (BAT’s) kindly chose us again for their wonderful performance of Murder on the Brimpton Express. Carefully written by BAT’s member John, the show was loosely based on Murder on the Orient Express, but with a lot of humour and references to events and landmarks in Brimpton. The show was very popular with the village, with tickets selling out in one week and everyone showing up on the night to show their support. The cast beautifully brought the script to life and had the whole audience chuckling throughout the evening. The village hall hire and the bar was covered by the generosity of the village, meaning that everything from the ticket sales, drinks and snacks was raised for the Hospice. They managed to raise an incredible £3,000 for St Michael’s Hospice and are already in discussions of what their next show should be!

Aladdins Cave Charity Shop

The wonderful staff from Aladdins Cave Chairty Shop in South Ham surprised us with a huge donation just before Christmas from what they’ve raised by selling second hand goods in their store throughout 2023. They are a independent charity shop who get to choose where the funds they raise go, and support the local community by offering a range of good quality, second hand items for very reasonable prices. They are incredibly resourceful to make sure they can raise as much as possible, including making their own price tags for the items in the shop from recycled goods! We were excited to get a call from them asking to come to the Hospice and were not expecting the huge donation it was, a cheque for £10,000! It was an incredible surprise to receive such a wonderful amount to support our Hospice and we’re so grateful for all their support!
