2. Website hosting Our website is hosted in the USA on a secure server, and we want to assure our supporters/website visitors, that we are committed to complying with GDPR regulations for data protection.

3. Cookies Definition
Cookies are identifier files containing a string of letters and numbers. These are sent by a web server to a web browser and stored by the browser. Each time the browser requests a page from the server, the identifier is sent back to the server. They are used by web servers to track and identify users as they visit different pages and return to a website. Cookies are either known as “persistent” or “session” depending on length used. Persistent cookies are text files sent by a web server to a browser where it is stored. It will remain valid until a set expiry date or if the user deletes the file. Session cookies only last for the duration of the visit until the web browser is closed.

4. Our Cookies

Our site uses cookies. We will use the following:
a) Google Analytics Cookies – We use Google Analytics to generate statistical analysis use of our website; these cookies are stored on users’ computers. The information generated is used to create reports about the use of the website. Google will store this information. b) Meta Pixel – LHLL – We have a Meta Pixel placed on our website by LHLL (Local Hospice Lottery) This pixel is a form of cookie. This will enable LHLL to display ads to people on their Meta accounts (i.e. Facebook and Instagram). The pixel will track when a user of our website has accessed or clicked on links within specific lottery or fundraising pages. It will send this data securely to Meta in an encrypted ‘hashed’ format. Meta will then match this data up with people who have corresponding social media accounts. For people with a Facebook or Instagram account Meta will then display LHLL ads on their social media feeds. Any ‘unmatched’ data will be deleted. Meta will also use the information provided via the Meta Pixel to help LHLL create ‘lookalike’ audiences so that ads can be displayed on the social media accounts of potential new supporters who have similar characteristics to existing hospice supporters.

a) For Internet Explorer (version 9), use the cookie handling override settings available by clicking “Tools”, “Internet Options”, “Privacy” and then “Advanced”.
b) For Firefox (version 16), block all cookies by clicking “Tools”, “Options”, “Privacy”, selecting “Use custom settings for history” from the drop-down menu, and untick “Accept cookies from sites”.
c) For Chrome (version 23), block all cookies by accessing the “Customise and control” menu, and click “Settings”, “Show advanced settings” and “Content settings”, then select “Block sites from setting any data” under the “Cookies” heading.

6. Deleting Cookies
You have the option to delete stored cookies on your computer. This activity may result in a negative impact on the usability of many websites.
a) For Internet Explorer (version 9), you must manually delete cookie files, visit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278835.
b) For Firefox (version 16), delete cookies by clicking “Tools”, “Options”, “Privacy” and then “Show Cookies”, then click “Remove All Cookies”.
c) For Chrome (version 23), access the “Customise and control” menu, click “Settings”, “Show advanced settings” and “Clear browsing data”, then select “Delete cookies and other site and plug-in data” before clicking “Clear browsing data”.
