Below are some of the inspiring fundraisers that took place across our local community during July. Thank you and well done to everyone who raised vital funds for our patients and their families across North Hampshire.
UL Solutions Team Cycle
The management team at UL Solutions recently took on the challenge of cycling 25 miles to raise money for the Hospice. They were a team of all cycling abilities, some being keen cyclists and others not having been on a bike to decades but they all rose to the challenge and had a great time cycling across Basingstoke and the surrounding areas. They had an amazing time before ending up at the pub for a refreshing drink. They raised over £1,000 for the Hospice which will make such a difference to us!
Festival Place Collection
Our lovely Hospice volunteers generously donated their time to help promote our Summer Memories event in Festival Place, Basingstoke, whilst also collecting donations from the public. They spent the morning engaging with the public, who were incredibly generous and helped us raise over £500 for the Hospice!
Aldermaston RFC Tag Rugby
The Aldermaston RFC held a taster evening for new members in July, and chose to support St. Michael’s Hospice with donations from the refreshments provided. They had a great turn out, with lots of people signing up to be members for the rugby team and others signing up to volunteer in the club house for events, and they were all incredibly generous and raised a wonderful £245 for the Hospice!
Chris Swift Testimonial Cricket Match 2024
Our lovely supporter, Wendy, held the second annual Chris Swift Testimonial Cricket Match in July. They were incredibly lucky with the weather, getting the perfect balance of sunshine and clouds, and had a great turn out again. People were incredibly generous with their raffle prizes and tickets for the raffle, with prizes including an afternoon tea for two at the Four Seasons Hotel, a meal and theatre trip in London for two and a chocolate hamper. Everyone attending had a wonderful time and the day raised over £1,200 for the Hospice!
Morrisons Collection
Our lovely volunteers gave up their weekends to help raise money from the public in Morrisons, Basingstoke in July. They collected at the front of the store across two days and met some wonderful people, and raised over £1,400 for the Hospice!
Charity Darts Match
Local supporters held the second annual Debbie Gardiner Charity Darts Match in July to raise money for St. Michael’s Hospice. They had a great turn out, with many local darts teams coming to take part in the competition and some incredible raffle prizes. This helped them absolutely smash last years total, raising an incredible £3,217.50 for the Hospice!
Support for St. Michael’s Hospice from Trusts
As an independent charity, we are extremely grateful for the support of trusts and foundations that help us carry out crucial projects that would otherwise be impossible. We would like to express our gratitude to the Morrisons Foundation for their support in helping us purchase a much-needed fridge for our hospice’s kitchen and a pantry fridge for our Inpatient unit. The incredible generosity of the foundation has allowed us to acquire this important equipment and allocate our resources to patient care that meets the needs of our community.
We only receive 16% of funding from the government to support our hospice’s services. We are also thankful to the OneStop Community Partnership program for their wonderful generosity in helping us cover our core costs. We are also thankful to an alumna of The Perforce who graciously donated £825.17 towards our vital services.
The Clifton House Charitable Trust
We are thankful for the generous donation of £500 from The Clifton House Charitable Trust towards our hospice’s services. Your support helps us continue delivering our essential services and being there for our patients and families who need us the most.
